Amber Is Passionate About Education

I am passionate about the quality of our children’s education, with a track record as a positive, consistent advocate for our children and community. I believe in tackling difficult issues with integrity and respect for all opinions. I am recognized as a leader and an organizer.

For 20 years, I have been deeply involved in our schools, serving on the Canyons District School Board, where I currently serve as President. I have served on multiple district-wide committees, and in leadership capacities on SCC’s and PTAs at Bella Vista Elementary, Butler Middle, and Brighton. I also have represented Canyons on statewide boards, including the Utah School Boards Association, the Joint Legislative Committee, the Utah High School Activities Association, and the Salt Lake County Parks & Recreation Advisory Board. I have strong working relationships with parents, teachers, and administrators. I understand the issues facing our district.

I have a Master of Public Administration degree from Brigham Young University, where I also graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance.  My civic involvement includes volunteering in Cub Scouts, leading youth groups, and serving as a Salt Lake County Precinct Delegate.

My husband and I have four children who attend or have graduated from the Brighton feeder system.

My philosophy on public service is:

  • Open communication fosters trust and respect

  • Active community engagement drives best results

  • High-quality education comes from investing in our teachers and providing opportunities for students
